About 2015

[Atlantic City, New Jersey, April 21, 2015] - The MOVE SOMETHING! Conference, the first of its kind in Southern New Jersey, takes place at the Golden Nugget Casino and Hotel on Saturday, April 25 from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

The MOVE SOMETHING! Conference serves to promote well-being through education, exercise, as well as promoting a bond among women on how to care for themselves mentally.  Sisters Ripping the Runway (SRTR), a running organization that empowers women to embrace health, fitness and movement, is presenting an event in the area that has never taken place before.

SRTR, with the help of some South Jersey's businesses and fitness professionals, will present a day of fun, fitness and education; not only for local residents but for attendees from the Tri-state area: North Jersey, Philadelphia, and New York City.   The conference has reached the "Sold Out" status  with over 200 attendees embarking on the newly renovated Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino to gain knowledge and skills on developing a healthier lifestyle.

The conference will feature an "Eating Healthy" workshop sponsored by South Jersey's own Bonterra Market. Facilitated by Bri Manning, a Atlantic Cape Community College Academy of Culinary Arts graduate, along Brittany Wright, a fitness instructor with 24 Hour Fitness in Mays Landing, New Jersey, this workshop will educate women on meal preparation with food samples and fitness instruction.

The "Stretching Workshop" will be facilitated by Atlantic City's own Patricia Young, AAAI/ISMA.  She will guide participants on proper ways to use stretching exercises pre and post workout. Patricia will demonstrate roller techniques as well as using household items to stretch.

Sergeant First Class Levar "Big Sarge" Curry is a 20 year Army service veteran, who is also a master group fitness instructor and who was nominated as one of South Jersey's "Top 40 Under 40" will take all attendees through a fun-filled Zumba session that's in alignment with the mission of the conference: to Move Something!

The highlight of the conference is New Jersey's own Anowa Adjah, who is the keynote speaker for the event. "The First Full-Fitness Phenomenon"  professional, entrepreneur, athlete and mother, Adjah has created her own lane in the health and fitness arena. As the first notable 200-pound female fitness professional, Anowa has faced much opposition in her efforts to promote curvier women in the health and fitness industry. Recognizing the lack of representation for full-figured women in the industry, she set out to challenge the controversial theories on weight standard and health.

"Often times we as women make everyone else a priority, this is our effort to encourage women to place themselves at the top of the priority list," states Nichole Edmond Pecou, co-founder of SRTR.  "We are excited to partner with the Women's Center in Linwood, New Jersey for our first annual conference."
